BISON in the Community
Vibrant Community Program The Bison Financial Group (Bison) Vibrant Community Program is a benefit eligible to all Bison employees. For every hour an employee volunteers for a Bison approved charity, the employee will be given one hour additional vacation time. This program encourages our staff to be active in their community. The Bison Financial Group staff are famous for their "Breakfasts on Bison". Bison will cook a pancake and sausage breakfast for various charity events or even just for the downtown neighborhood. We have a large trailer containing tables, chairs, tents, and grills; everything needed to set up an outdoor kitchen for our friends and neighbors! Events have included: The Lafayette Parks Department Zoo Run Run, Lafayette Urban Ministry's (LUM) Hunger Hike, Chesterton Hike for the Homeless, and the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra Mother's Day Brunch. Crystal Bison Award The Crystal Bison Award is an event hosted by Bison Financial Group in recognition of an individual's volunteerism in a vibrant community. Bison Financial Group is a leader among small companies in our area by financially and behaviorally supporting not-for-profit organizations as an integral component of Bison's business motto, "Good Will First, Business Second". Nominations for the Crystal Bison award are sought from organizations Bison supports through its Vibrant Community Fund, which provides monies, volunteer time, and in-kind services to organizations that meet one or more of three criteria: 1) Educate the community's citizens 2) Take care of its poor 3) Promote the development and execution of the arts Recipients are selected by Bison as the best at exemplifying the heart and spirit of volunteerism as an integral part of a vibrant community.
